How do you maintain the TS Refine garment steamer?Updated 12 days ago
With a little maintenance, your TS Refine garment steamer keeps working well and delivers a steady steam output. Below you can read what to do after every use, how to clean the dust filter and how to descale the garment steamer with the self-cleaning function.
After every use
A few steps after every use keep your garment steamer in top shape.
- 1. Unplug the device
- Make sure the device is completely disconnected from the power and let it cool down fully.
- 2. Empty the water tank
- Remove the water tank and pour out any remaining water. Be careful, the water may still be hot.
- 3. Clean and dry the water tank and the filter
- Clean the water tank and dry it. Pull the dust filter up and out of the device by hand. Use the included cleaning brush to remove dust, fluff and dirt from the filter.
You can also rinse the filter with water. Always let it dry completely before you put it back. Store it in a well-ventilated area while it dries.
Always empty the water tank after use. Stagnant water can start to smell unpleasant. Emptying it also helps prevent limescale build-up, so your garment steamer lasts longer.
Caution: Never store the device with a wet or dirty dust filter.
Replacing the filter
Do you use the garment steamer regularly, about once a week? Then we recommend replacing the dust filter every 2 months.
An old or clogged filter can reduce the performance of the device and may cause damage over time.
Descaling with the self-cleaning function
Depending on the water hardness and how often you steam, limescale can build up in the device. Run the self-cleaning function about once a month to prevent limescale and keep the steam output steady.
Caution: During the self-cleaning function, hot water, hot steam and loosened limescale come out of the device through the steam plate. Never hold your hands, face or other body parts in front of or under the steam plate. Hold the device by the handle only, and keep children, pets and bystanders away.
- 1. Fill the water tank
- Fill the water tank with 270 ml of water, preferably distilled or demineralised. Do not add descaler, cleaning products or other chemicals.
- 2. Hold the device over a sink
- Keep the steam plate pointing down and away from your body. Do not run the self-cleaning function over a floor, worktop or any other surface that hot water could damage.
- 3. Start the self-cleaning function
- Press the on/off button
. Once the device has fully heated up, press and hold the Steam Mode II icon
for 5 seconds. The Steam Mode II icon starts to flash and the indicator strip flashes quickly at the same time.
- 4. Let the cycle finish
- Keep the steam plate pointing down over the sink for the entire cycle. The cycle takes about 5 minutes. Hot water and hot steam come out of the device. Do not put the device down on the steam plate while steam is still coming out.
- 5. Switch off and let it cool down
- When the cycle ends, the device automatically returns to heating mode and is still hot. Switch it off, unplug it and let it cool down completely before you empty the water tank or store the device.
Preventing limescale
- Use distilled or demineralised water Limescale comes from minerals in the water. Tap water can be used, but distilled or demineralised water is strongly recommended.
- Empty the water tank after every use This way no water is left behind in the device.
- Run the self-cleaning function monthly Do not use descalers. Clean water and regular self-cleaning are enough to keep the steam output good and extend the life of the device.
- Don't add anything to the water Never add fragrances, vinegar or cleaning products to the water tank.
