How to remove limescale with steam?Updated 8 days ago
Limescale is a hard mineral layer that builds up on surfaces, grout and sanitary fittings. Steam is highly effective at loosening dirt and grease, but for limescale an extra step is often required. With the method below you'll remove limescale more thoroughly.
How to steam away limescale
- 1. Make a descaling mixture
- Mix natural vinegar and water in a 50/50 ratio, or use a mild descaler suitable for the surface you want to clean.
- 2. Apply the mixture
- Put the mixture in a spray bottle and spray it onto the limescale or grout.
- 3. Let it soak in
- Let the mixture soak in for about 5 to 10 minutes. This gives the descaler time to loosen the limescale.
- 4. Use the steam cleaner
- Attach the scouring sponge to the jet nozzle and steam the limescale loose thoroughly.
- 5. Rinse well
- Rinse the surface thoroughly afterwards with clean water to remove any vinegar, descaler and limescale residue. Then dry it with the drying cloth.

Note: The end result always depends on the amount of limescale. For thick or stubborn limescale layers it may be necessary to repeat the treatment a few times for a complete result.
