How to descale the TS1 Steam CleanerUpdated 8 days ago

Minerals in tap water leave limescale behind in the boiler over time. This makes your steam cleaner slower and can cause it to clog up. Regular descaling solves that.

When should you descale the steam cleaner?

  • Do you use tap water? Once a month is usually sufficient.
  • Do you use demineralised or distilled water? Then once every three months is enough.
  • Notice the steam getting weaker or heating taking longer? Then it's always time for a descaling session.

How to descale the steam cleaner

1. Turn off the steam cleaner and let it cool down
Make sure the steam cleaner is completely off and has cooled down properly before you start descaling.
2. Empty the water tank
Unscrew the water tank cap and pour out any remaining water completely.
3. Make the descaling mixture
Fill a bucket with 1 litre of tap water and add two sachets of descaler to it. Stir the mixture briefly so the descaler dissolves properly.
4. Fill the water tank with the mixture
Carefully pour the descaling mixture into the water tank of the steam cleaner.
5. Let the mixture soak in
Let the descaling mixture sit in the water tank for at least 45 minutes. This gives the descaler time to loosen limescale.
6. Gently shake the steam cleaner back and forth
After soaking, shake the steam cleaner back and forth a few times. This way the mixture reaches the inside of the reservoir and any remaining limescale can come loose better.
7. Empty the reservoir
Pour the descaling mixture completely out of the reservoir into the sink.
8. Rinse the water tank well
Rinse the tank a few times with clean water until there are no descaler residues left in the water tank.
9. Let the device dry
Place the cap loosely back on the water tank and let the steam cleaner air dry before storing or using it again.

Important to know

  • Don't use vinegar or other chemicals Don't use vinegar, cleaning agents, fragrances or other chemicals in the water tank. The TS1 is made for use with water and the official Techweise descaler.
  • Empty the water tank after each use Standing water can develop odours and increases the chance of limescale buildup. By emptying the tank after use and storing the device dry, your steam cleaner stays in good condition longer.
