How do you steam clean the floor?Updated 7 days ago

With a steam cleaner you make hard floors hygienically clean without a bucket, mop water or cleaning products. The hot steam kills bacteria, dissolves dirt and lets your floor dry faster than a traditional mop.

How to steam a hard floor

1. Vacuum or sweep the floor first
Remove crumbs, dust, sand and hair before you start. If loose dirt remains on the floor, it can cause streaks or stick to the mop cloth.
2. Attach the extension poles to the steam cleaner
Click the extension poles in place so you can clean the floor standing upright. Check that all parts are properly secured before you start.
3. Attach the mop and mop cloth
Place the mop, or large triangle, on the extension poles. Then attach a clean mop cloth to the mop.
4. Move calmly across the floor
Steam in slow strokes and don't stay on one spot for too long. By moving slowly the steam has time to loosen dirt while the mop cloth absorbs moisture and dirt.
5. Replace the mop cloth when it becomes too wet or dirty
A saturated or dirty cloth absorbs moisture and dirt less effectively. This can cause streaks, a sticky feeling or water on the floor. Use a clean, dry mop cloth in time.

How do you prevent water buildup?

  • Spray excess water out of the steam cleaner Spray excess water out of the steam cleaner before you start cleaning the floor. When the steam cleaner hasn't been used for a few minutes, some water can come out with the steam at first. So always briefly spray into a sink or bucket before use until steady steam comes out again. This keeps the mop cloth drier and prevents wet spots on the floor.
  • Don't steam too long on the same spot Keep moving calmly and don't hold the steam cleaner still on one spot.
  • Replace the mop cloth in time Replace the mop cloth so it doesn't become too saturated.

How do you get a streak-free result?

  • Use a clean mop cloth For a streak-free result, a clean mop cloth is most important. Streaks often occur because dirt is smeared instead of absorbed. So always start with a clean cloth and replace it as soon as it becomes dirty or too wet.
  • Vacuum the floor beforehand Vacuum the floor before you start steaming. This way the mop cloth doesn't become saturated quickly.
